History
2018
United in Diversity came into being with a vision to drive change within its membership through a custom made initiative which cater to the unique needs UID members. United in Diversity WA was incorporated in January 2018 having created our vision, mission and values through Inclusion Solution’s ‘Club Abilities’ Project in Armadale.
In the last four months of that year, UiD members prepared and presented four monthly multicultural dining evenings in Armadale for approximately 250 people and displayed their ability to deliver ‘Tastes of Diversity’ project in the Armadale community. ‘Tastes of Diversity’ produced meaningful social interaction for CaLD UiD members in the local community, developed English language skills and social confidence, increased work experience and developed potential employment pathways.
‘Kitchen of Diversity’ – a catering service started by CaLD UiD members is a social enterprise that came out of the Tastes of Diversity project. Kitchen of Diversity is an exciting catalyst to achieving greater social integration through employment and engagement with the wider community.
2019
In 2019 United in Diversity and Multicultural Futures partnered to launch World Music Café social enterprise. Together, the two organisations developed a cultural business model that fosters employability skills, local work experience and community connections for migrants.
2020
In 2020, during COVID United in Diversity began to lay the foundations for its next social enterprise which will be a sewing enterprise. Work on the sewing social enterprise is currently ongoing through support from South Metropolitan TAFE and City of Canning.
